"I have always loved vintage style since I was young. My favourite past time is going into vintage or antique or second hand shops and flea markets to be inspired.

I love laces from the 18th century and accessories from the 20’s. I wouldn’t say that my pieces are avant-garde but more of adding an edgy 

and dramatic effect as they should always look spectacular for a show. I believe in making an old look new." Melinda Looi

Melinda Looi Autumn Winter 2016 collection - LIFE IS A MAZE, is an expression of the evolution of life and the challenges it presents. Just like a maze, life starts and ends with no signs and no obvious pathways. With infinite options, there are only two directions we can take - backwards or forward - both bringing new possibilities. The greatest mistake is to just stand still.

Melinda Looi’s latest collection represents this view of life with geometrical lines and cuts that depict the shapes and pathways of a maze. Reflecting the confusion and frustration of going through such pathways, materials such as taffeta and chiffon are used. These have been combined with Melinda Looi perennials of lace and tulle, which hint at the secrets of a-mazing life.

Known for her unique sense of style, a well-known Malaysia designer, Melinda Looi who always comes out with an unexpected pieces! here are my 5 fav runway looks from her Autumn Winter 2016 RTW line. It was all about chiffon, tulle gowns and a special dye printing can be seen on few garments which being made as a top, skirt and dresses. oh off-shoulder trend surely there to complete the whole collection.
